This role within CAMHS aims to develop the role of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in the Mental Health Support Team (MHST). It represents an opportunity for clinicians who have knowledge and experience in using evidence-based low intensity interventions to develop their careers, and support the development of this new, exciting service for young people and their families.

The post-holder will supervise, develop, and support Education Mental Health Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and training. The post-holder will work closely with senior colleagues to screen and triage all referrals.

The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the new teams and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues. The post holder will also hold a small caseload in agreement with their supervisor.

CLINICAL
- Triage and allocate referrals via agreed protocols within the service, with support from the Senior Management Team.
- Provide signposting and self-help advice, or refer onto other services, where referrals are not appropriate for MHST
- To offer clinical assessments and brief interventions to children and young people in the MHST population, including working with those with more complex presentations as covered by the Senior Wellbeing Practitioner course
- Provide a range of information and support for evidence-based low - intensity psychological treatments. This work may be face to face, digital or via telephone.
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
- Attend multi-agency and multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate.
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
- Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
- Work closely with CAMHS teams ensuring appropriate processes are in place (where clinically indicated) to support the pathway approach to care.
- Support EMHPs to deliver Whole School Approach work (audits of Whole School Approach, delivery of assemblies, work to promote positive mental wellbeing in the educational setting, groups etc.

TEACHING, TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
- Offer caseload management and clinical skills supervision to qualified and trainee EMHPs in the service.
- Support the trainees to adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
- Support EMHP’s / trainee EMHPs using role modelling to assess and support children and young people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
- Identify training needs across the team and assist in the development of routes for CPD
- Offer training sessions where appropriate
- Attend locally organised and national training appropriate to the work role.
- To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist other supervisors and team members in evidence-based CBT practice.
- To develop and maintain knowledge about and links with local statutory and voluntary services to which clients can be signposted.
- Undertake and successfully complete postgraduate EMHP supervision training with the identified Higher Education Institution., where qualification not already obtained.

PROFESSIONAL
- Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework
