St Peters, United Kingdom Kent County Council Full time

Advert
We are looking for a self-motivated and committed Social Work Assistants to join the East Kent Children in Care Service, working primarily with our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.

Posts are full time (37 hrs per week) for a fixed period of 6 months.

East Kent Children in Care Service have 2 offices based in Broadstairs and Whitstable. These roles will be based at St Peters House and Brook House and will be primarily (but not solely) to support Adolescent Children in Care, including Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. The focus of the work is to support the statutory role of the social worker. This includes direct work with vulnerable children, young people and their families or carers and assisting Social Workers in any other identified tasks.

Providing support is essential to our service users so the ability to produce good reports and case notes, collate information and liaise with social workers and other professionals to inform the complex court work is another key element of the role. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you can develop good working relationships with the families, foster carers and other professionals.

You should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport. You may also be required to transport or accompany young people to appointments inside and outside of the County.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
