A vacancy currently exists for a Supported Accommodation Worker to join the Stratus Care Group team. The post holder will provide support to looked after children and care leavers aged 16-18 to promote independent living. They will be a point of contact to residents in supported accommodation and will ensure that the service provides a safe and welcoming environment.

You will be required to assist young people to attend appointments within the community, encourage and oversee that their accommodation is kept clean & tidy, facilitate budgeting, cooking and life skill sessions. You will assist the management in the accommodation in compliance with Ofsted, legislation, and the ethos and policies of the company.

The work involves contributing to the supported accommodation service ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard. This will include ensuring good order is maintained in these services so that all residents can peacefully occupy the premises and neighbour nuisance, both internal and external to the building is minimized.

The post holder will be required to work ‘Out of Normal Office Hours’ on a shift rota basis to include working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. The rota includes working every other weekend on a four week rolling rota that includes seven sleep in shifts.

**Key Duties/Areas of Responsibility**

1. To support children and young people to assist with skills needed to live independently. Ensure that the supported accommodation provides stability, consistency and is safe, secure, and well-maintained for the children and young people.

2. To provide supervision to young people and children. Enable them to have consistent and continuous access to local services, including education and healthcare. Promote children’s positive self-esteem and sense of belonging within the local community and discourage stigmatisation of children. Promote children to actively participate and form relationships in the community.

3. To enable children and young people to manage risk by providing support, guidance and information on Health and Safety and support them in managing their physical environment. To understand and work in adherence with risk assessments and risk management plans.

4. To establish positive relationships with the young people, assessing needs and working jointly in producing, implementing, delivering, and revising individual support plans.

6. Ensure that accommodation services are maintained to a high standard and meet all legal and statutory requirements to operate safely, effectively and efficiently. You will ensure good order is maintained in the services so that all residents can peacefully occupy the premises and neighbour nuisance, both internal and external to the building is minimised. Whilst on site you will ensure that the building is secure and allow/monitor access to visitors to the services as necessary.

7. To work with young people individually and in groups with the aim of enhancing relationships, self-confidence, social skills, managing personal behaviour and life skills. Provide support to children to promote independent living and meet their aspirations and goals as set out in their Pathway and Support Plans.

8. Respond in a suitable manner to the welfare of young people including child protection and vulnerable adult issues, by informing management and working in accordance with local requirements and Stratus Care Group policies and procedures.

9. To lone work in designated homes, follow the lone working policy and procedure in addition to the lone working training as provided.

10. Ensure all aspects of young people’s files and service files are at required professional standard and that all aspects of Data Protection Act followed.

11. Ensure that the standards of the building are maintained by keeping the building tidy and carrying out cleaning jobs as required. Work as part of a team in preparing the accommodation for letting.

12. To carry out any other reasonable requests by management, that is consistent with the nature and grade of the role.

13. Respond to emergency callouts for any other sites managed by the Stratus Care Group Accommodation Service.
