**We're seeking a Finance Business Partner to report to our Head of Finance.**
**The finance team is based in the London and Birmingham offices and comprises a team of 16. This is expected to grow to 20 in the near future. We are also going through an exciting transformation period and are implementing a new Oracle Finance and HR system.**

With more areas of the business becoming data hungry, the Finance Business Partner will be the primary point of business area liaison with Finance and operate as an extension of Finance within the business area. As a member of the executive teams for the business area/s you are allocated, you will proactively support Business Area Leaders (BALS) and other Partners with their accountability for profit and loss delivery. Key deliverables are to build financial understanding, insight / analysis and initiate action-focused financial performance improvement plans.

This is a full-time position based from Birmingham (or possibly London) and will be worked under our flexible-working 'WorkSmart' framework where you will have the option to share your time between the office with hybrid working (flexible, office 1 - 3 days per week).

**Responsibilities**:
The Finance Business Partner will work directly with business areas within Barnett Waddingham acting as their de-facto finance director. They will be supported in that role by the finance team in general and key stakeholders within the business area. Providing financial direction and advice to the business area and feeding back information to management as well as the finance team. Some key responsibilities are as follows:
**Financial direction**
- Projection of glidepath for P&L, balance sheet and capital
- Consider and recommend ways to improve future growth and performance
- Focus on specific variables within the business area such as unprofitable clients, non-payroll expenses, write-offs, charge out rates, productivity, etc.
- Day to day budget management responsibility
- Analysis of billing and debt management
- Identification and oversight of efficiency and capacity enhancement initiatives
- Collaboration with Finance to optimise financial treatment of investments
- General strategic financial advice to the business area

**Financial metrics Analysis**
- Analysis of income and expenditure
- Activity-based expense analysis, allocating expenses to specific tasks and projects
- In depth analysis of customer transactions with specific reference to life events within pension portfolios
- Review of actuarial assumptions from an accounting perspective and their impact on the performance of the business area
- Cashflow projections for separate business lines
- Liaising with main finance function in development of financial reports to assist management decision making

**Business Case Support**
- Business case preparation for new investment and proposition development, expense initiatives & business development opportunities
- Benefits realisation lead for business cases within the specific business areas
- Any other reasonable task as advised from time-to-time
- Support, Implement and Maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance with Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy

Qualifications:

- Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified actuary (IFoA) - essential
- Similar business partnering experience
- Strong influencing and communications skills
- Ability to explain complex financial matters in a clear and understandable way

- To assist business areas with all financial matters
- Aim to improve the profitability of the area in question
- Offer clear and concise financial information to aid swift decision making
- Feed back information to the wider finance team and potentially share good practice around the business
- Help senior management to concentrate on their roles rather than financial analysis
