Registrations Officer

My client, a South East London Local Authority, seek an experienced Registration Officer to start this 6 month booking (with a view to becoming permanent) asap.

The role:

- To register births deaths and marriages/ civil partnerships under the statutory auspices of the Registrar General of the UKBA through a local registration scheme approved under the Registration Service Act 1953.
- To carry out the work of the General Office in the production of certificates and related office/statutory duties.
- To advise on matters concerning Births Deaths Marriages and Civil Partnerships as well as matters concerning Citizenship.
- the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds and cultures
- tact, patience and empathy, for dealing with people who may be distressed
- clear and accurate handwriting
- the ability to work under pressure
- administrative skills

Your day-to-day duties might include:

- interviewing parents and relatives after a birth or death
- completing computerised and paper records
- issuing birth or death certificates
- informing the coroner if there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding a death
- collecting statistics to send to the General Register Office
- taking payment for copies of certificates
- keeping accurate records
- performing civil ceremonies

Immediate start

£16.96 PAYE / £20.96 LTD UMB per hour

6 month period with the possibility of the role becoming permanent.

Full time 35 hours per week Mon to Fri
