**Cleaner : 15 Hours per week (3pm-6pm) Term time + 4 weeks to be agreed over the holidays.**

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**:
The normal duties of the post holder will usually include the following:
1. To be responsible for cleaning certain parts of the school site as allocated by the Premises Manager (this will vary from time to time).

2. To use cleaning materials as instructed by the Premises Manager.

3. To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, eg; vacuum cleaners and polishers.

4. To always be aware of potential Health and Safety issues and report them to Premises Manager or Headteacher

5. Main purposes of the job:

- Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
- Spot cleaning of spillages
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass
- Emptying and cleaning bins
- Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
- Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture
- Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets, etc
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work
- Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time
- All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the line manager in charge or Headteacher
- Monitor stock relating to cleaning materials and place orders as necessary.

Notes: During periods when the school is closed, routine cleaning is undertaken throughout the school. This may include stripping and sealing floors, high level dusting, wall washing, etc.

Duties and responsibilities

To undertake the cleaning of designated areas of the school and in the designated time.

To use cleaning materials as instructed by the appropriate person in charge.

To inform the appropriate person of any cleaning material requirements or problems with equipment.

To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners and polishers/buffers.

To ensure that all cleaning materials are stored appropriately.

Cleaning duties will include the following:

- Spot cleaning of spillages
- Wiping, polishing, dusting of designated areas
- Emptying and cleaning bins
- Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
- Straightening furniture and general tidying up of designated areas
- Replenishing supplies in toilets
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work.
- Report all defects/hazards must be immediately reported to Supervisor

7. During periods when the school is closed, cleaning duties may vary throughout the school e.g. summer cleaning programme.

8. To work as part of a team and ensure all relevant tasks are completed in allotted time. To be able to communicate effectively with other cleaners giving feedback on performance as appropriate.

9. To undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the appointed person and if time allows.

10. To monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and report low stock.

11. To adhere to all the agreed school policies.

To actively participate in any appropriate training
