You will work under the supervision of the Dietetic service and Nutrition Nurse Specialist Team, to support the provision of an effective and efficient, high quality inpatient service to our patients who require additional support with meeting their nutrition and hydration needs. You will support inpatient areas with coordinating referrals, implementing first line nutritional management plans (under the supervision of the dietetic service) and providing education and training to enhance provision of the optimum patient experience. The role will also involve regular audit and quality assurance tasks across the Trust inpatient areas so you will also need to be able to travel independently between hospital sites.

Confidence with liaising with patients, carers and relatives and a wide range of healthcare professionals is an essential attribute for this role. Excellent communication skills and confidence in teaching others is also vital.

**Main duties will include**:

- monitoring nutritional screening in inpatient areas and ensuring nutrition and hydration plans are in place and referrals instigated
- carrying out basic nutritional assessments of non-complex patients to ensure timely and appropriate nutritional intervention
- working with the catering teams to ensure that patients receive a satisfactory meal experience
- supporting dietitians, nutrition nurses and other health care professionals with education, promotional campaigns and project work to enhance knowledge and skills of all staff in relation to nutrition and hydration
- supporting clinical areas with audit and quality assurance
- providing clinical administrative support to nutrition related MDTS (complex nutrition MDT, PEG MDT, ward based MDT review meetings)

You will be given supervision and support from experienced Dietitians to enable you to develop your skills and gain experience.

We are also close to three international airports - Teesside, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle.

Hospital accommodation is available on the James Cook University Hospital site in Middlesbrough, should it be required.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
