**About us**:
In April 2020 Buckinghamshire Council became the UK’s newest council and the residents of Buckinghamshire will be served by a single, unitary council.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. Not only will you be an integral part of the unique and exciting transition through the unitary process, you will also be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home

**About the role**:
**Quotes from OFSTED**:
“Staff understand and manage the safeguarding issues relating to the children’s behaviours extremely effectively”.

“The registered manager expertly demonstrates excellent practice. This creates a culture of high expectations and aspirations for children and staff”.

“Children have gained qualifications and skills in employability, tiling and functional skills. They have also gained certificates recognising their educational progress since living in the home”

**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:

- To be responsible forthe management, development, supervision and appraisal of a team of residential workers, and the services they provide both inside and outside the establishment.
- To be aware of all in-house procedures, principles and guidelines and all departmental guidelines and procedures.
- To share responsibility for the care and welfare of all children and young people using the services offered by the resource and to ensure policies, philosophies and practice are such as to keep their best interests paramount.

Please see the job description for further details

**About you**:

- You will support the Head of Home in their tasks and in their absence be responsible for the continuation and development of good practice according to the policies and guidelines of Buckinghamshire County Council.
- You will demonstrate the ability to build on the well-established ethics and practice standards existing within Buckinghamshire Council and proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of these standards
- The “primary purpose” is to make a positive contribution to the lives of children. We make this contribution by ensuring that all our interactions are exceptional, that our knowledge and skills represent excellence and that we support people to develop purposeful and warm relationships.

**Other information**:

**Our values**:
We have a set of values, which our employees have chosen, that represent what we are **- Proud, Ambitious, Collaborative and Trustworthy.**

By joining Buckinghamshire Council, you can expect:

- a fair and inclusive culture
- the chance to really make a difference to those around you
- health and well-being initiatives including an Employee Assistance Programme, Mental Health First Aiders and mindfulness workshops
- a unified voice through our Employee Representative Group
- ongoing support, and the opportunity to develop and progress in your career with us
- opportunities to take part in fun activities such as fundraising and social events

**About the Business Unit**:
We are looking for talented and driven individuals to help us achieve the best outcomes for our children, young people and families in Buckinghamshire. Our key priorities include continuing to protect vulnerable children and young people harm, whilst sustaining an environment where social work practice can thrive. Through our vital work with our partners, including The Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership, we continue to improve our collective response to children and young people who have been exposed to domestic abuse, exploitation, substance misuse and mental health issues.

No matter what role you take on in our Children’s services, you will be part of a team who is dedicated to supporting children and their families to achieve their full potential.
