**Purpose of the role**

Working as part of a close Head Office team but in daily contact with branches and suppliers, and reporting to the Accounts payable Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining an efficient and accurate administrative procedure for dealing with all aspects of purchase invoices. Your key responsibilities include:

- Working as part of an effective Purchase Ledger team
- Working as part of an effective wider Head Office team
- Accurate processing purchase invoices and credit notes onto the purchase ledger
- Responsible for the investigation of and resolution of supplier queries
- Maintaining strong supplier relationships
- The efficient and accurate input of data (manual and electronic)
- Liaising with suppliers and branches
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Using the company Portal to answer queries with branches
- Using the Buying Manual
- General housekeeping

**The successful Purchase Ledger Clerk will possess the following attributes**:

- Be a good communicator (verbal and written)
- Comfortable with high volume invoice processing
- Be well presented and an excellent timekeeper
- Have an excellent telephone manner
- Have basic numeracy skills
- Show a great attention to detail in your work
- Be approachable, friendly, polite, and positive
- Be willing and able to take instructions
- Work on your own initiative, but also be willing to work as part of a wider team
- Be willing to assist with other tasks when required
- Be willing to learn and to look for innovate ways to improve company procedures
- Show awareness of the need for confidentiality
- Adhere to the company’s Health & Safety procedures at all times
- Have IT skills
- Excel experience would be beneficial
- Be able to work to weekly/monthly deadlines
