An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Geriatric Medicine Department within Cardiff and Vale UHB working alongside Consultant Geriatrician colleagues. This post is part-time, working 6 sessions per week.

The appointee will have a sub-specialty interest in rehabilitation and peri-operative medicine in older people undergoing Surgery.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

The second part of the post offers a novel opportunity to further develop a POPs model in Cardiff and Vale UHB working with the Lead Geriatrician in the surgical department alongside specialist nurses and wider MDT members.

There is a commitment to the acute medical on-call rota and this will involve evening post-take sessions as well as overnight cover for advice (off-site) and morning post-take ward round and/or retrieval sessions.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £55,033 per annum to £71,447 per annum plus a further £16,003 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.
