Bright Start is a community interest company dedicated to providing high quality homes for people with addiction issues. Our homes are available to anybody that is still in any form of active addiction but has a desire to stop and a willingness to accept support with that process.
As a Supported Housing Officer, you will be working closely with our clients, supporting them through difficult times in their journey. This involves working in partnership with other agencies and professionals, dealing with the Directors and keeping up with other Housing Management related issues.
**JOB Description**:
- Take the lead role in the assessment of incoming referrals and other queries.
- Working with individuals in a focused way which enables them to maximise their full potential.
- To work alongside an allocation of vulnerable individuals (adults) in promoting independence and empowering them to work towards a lifestyle that Is free from drug and alcohol dependence.
- To complete a support plan with each individual detailing all elements of support required in order for their needs and wants to be met. This must be reviewed on a regular basis.
- To work alongside an individual in understanding how best to provide support through a thorough risk assessment process to highlight any risks to themselves, their license agreement, or others - this must be reviewed on a regular basis.
- To provide information, advice, and guidance to enable service users to understand their responsibilities and support them to develop effective strategies to manage those responsibilities within their life and their home.
- To work closely with other professionals where appropriate in order to provide a holistic approach, including coordinating professionals’ meetings when necessary and attending external meetings in relation to meeting their support needs.
- To liaise internally with other members of the team to enable the individual to achieve successful outcomes with agreed targets, e.g. to discuss a moving on plan.
- To work closely with an individual in understanding acceptable behaviour and being a good neighbour so that their License agreement is maintained in the longer term.
- To use the recording systems in place to enable a full reflection of all activities relating to each individual whether it be interaction reports or all other relevant supporting documentation, maintenance reporting etc.
- To be responsible for regular property inspections, reporting maintenance and other housing issues as required.
**Supported Housing Officer** **Requirements**:
- A confident approach with exceptional verbal communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and recording skills.
- The necessary skills and abilities to complete comprehensive assessments at initial referral, support plans, risk assessments and license agreements.
- Ability to prioritise a busy and ever-changing workload.
- A solid working knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults, as well as experience of working with a diverse group of vulnerable adults.
- The confidence and experience to challenge decisions and advocate on behalf of our service users in their times of need.
**Primary Tasks**
- Take part in the daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping tasks as part of our modelling positive behaviour plan to service users.
- Support all individuals in meeting their medical and healthcare needs.
- Be able to work effectively with all individuals and have the ability to develop and create person-centred support plans.
- Clarifying expectations in relation to maintaining the provision and personal living spaces in a clean and orderly condition.
- Carrying out regular drug screens with individuals.
- Making sure that Care Plans and Risk Management Plans are correct and up to date.
**Knowledge/Qualifications**:
- Minimum or above NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care; Children & Individuals or working towards.
- 3+ years working in an Adult Social Care setting.
**Essential skills**:
- The ability to analyse complex issues, identify potential solutions and reach sound judgements and decisions.
- The ability to develop and deliver consistency within your role.
- Strong background of social care expertise. (substance misuse sector)
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Critical thinking abilities.
- Well organised with good time management skills and ability to work on own initiative.
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to form positive relationships with colleagues.
- Computer literate with the ability to produce documents on Word, Publisher, and Excel.
**Essential qualities**:
- Flexibility and ability to cope with forever changing environments.
- Capable of working under pressure and the ability to manage stress in one’s self as well as others.
- Willingness to work unsociable hours
