- Please note: Priority may be given to internal applicants- Calderdale Youth Justice Service undertakes assessments and interventions with children and young people aged 10 -18 years of age who have committed a criminal offence, or they are at risk of offending.- The service’s priority is to prevent offending and further offending by addressing the criminogenic factors and support young people’s skills and strengths to become valued members of the community. The post holder will work with children and young people (age 10-17) who have been referred to the Youth Justice Service. This will include one to one and group-based work.- The post holder will be required to provide support, encouragement, and supervision to enable children and young people to undertake ‘community reparation’ work.**This can take many forms including**:

- Environmental projects, arts-based projects, awareness raising campaigns, supporting local charity work etc. The post holder will be able to develop their own ideas for community projects and activities for young people to complete.
- Encourage engagement with positive activities including health and wellbeing, educational, involvement in community groups and activities that will develop a child sense of victim empathy and the need to repair harm.
- Support in diverting children and young people from and preventing further ASB or offending that impacts their communities.
- Additional tasks such as supporting young people to undertake the CSCS card may be a part of the role.- All actions must be recorded on the Youth Justice Team computerised case management system. The post holder will monitor and evaluate the reparation undertaken including maintaining appropriate records, statistical information and written reports as required by the Immediate Justice partnership.
