Central Employment are pleased to be working with a successful metal distribution family run business based in Newcastle. Due to growth they are currently looking to recruit a Sales Manager to join the company.

**Purpose of the Sales Manager**:
The purpose of the Sales Manager is to manage the ales of product range to Key Accounts and oversee sales team accounts. Along with replenishment needs, staff HR, ISO quality and all relevant sales metrics and targets. They will monitor all revenues andcosts attributed to the sales team, manage rotas, supervise and conduct appraisals of staff. Coach manage and develop sales staff and team leaders to optimise performance and meet key targets.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Senior manager in charge of sales team, setting best practice standards, for all sales operational activities and personnel to ISO standards.
- Establishes KPIs, targets and performance goals for all sales department employees on a continual basis in line with MD’s/General Manager/Area Managers strategic objectives set and forecast.
- Timely monitoring of invoicing, errors, credit notes and returns of team to ensure correct pricing and margin as per branch forecast and to provide/ request support and training of sales team where deficiencies are found.
- Manage and motivate sales staff, assist with recruitment, attendance, training and development according to company policies and employment laws, and work with HR to ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc)
- To foster sales teamwork and communication between sales, stock, admin and warehouse channels and to champion customer requirements and business practices affecting these areas
- Seek out and target new customers and current customer sales opportunities in conjunction with BDM (if applicable). Initiate action plans to target, approach and secure new business for the branch as well as growing the current revenue and product salesof existing accounts.
- Self-management and development of own account portfolio (and teams) to target/forecast and monitoring of incoming leads and sales conversion within our credit policies and insurance terms.
- Negotiating, awareness and administration of back to back purchasing of core sales team and liaising with purchasing team on any bulk requirements and current market pricing.
- Monitor and report on sales activities and provide relevant management information when required
- Any other duties as required by the company

**Essential Experience**:

- Self-Driven results orientated with a focus on margin growth and profitability.
- People management skills coupled with the relevant skills and experience to enable effective assessment of a team as well as their own performance
- Business Acumen, with an ability to understand a profit and loss account and basic business metrics such as KPI, forecasting, margins and markup.
- Excellent face to face and telephone communicator able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts and large contracts or even a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development.
- Excellent attention to detail skills
