Fleet Planner West

Reporting to the Fleet Planning Manager, the Fleet Planner is a critical new role that has been created to deliver excellence in Fleet Maintenance Planning. Accountable for the development and issue the daily planned lists of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, considering planned resource, facilities, materials and tooling constraints.
Lead and manage the daily Planning & Production meeting cycle, developing a planned List of Work which is achievable, meets the service needs of the business and effectively utilises all the resources of the production TrainCare Centres and Outstations, and in so doing enables service, cost and quality targets to be met.
Collaborate with the Northern Control team with the allocation of units to diagrams to maintenance locations. Coordinate with the TrainCare Centres and Outstations on the timing and delivery of failed units, ensuring the facilities are aware of the incidents and that a rectification is required. This shall include a return to service plan.
Monitor fleet unit mileages and download into software systems, investigate any anomalies and arrange with the systems help desk to correct any errors.
This role is safety critical and would require you to undertake a full safety critical medical, it also involves shift work.
**About you**:
- Engineering qualifications to HNC/HND standard or equivalent experience essential
- Experience of engineering and people management in a matrix organisation, with an emphasis on railway vehicle / heavy industrial engineering and depot / plant management activities
- Knowledge of Railway Operating rules, procedures and arrangements with a good understanding of Rail vehicle maintenance and production activities - Understanding of Rail industry control management including service recovery arrangements and train planning diagramming
- Managerial qualifications desirable, such as Institution of Leadership and Management Level 3
- Ability to work in a team, effectively under pressure and in collaboration with others
- Well organised and ability to prioritise workloads
- Significant experience in a rolling stock background
- Communication skills - able to communicate effectively under pressure and to a variety of levels within an organisation
- Self-Motivation - ability to continue to work diligently if left without direct supervision
- Safety aware - understands the process for managing safety, and able to recognise the potential consequences of incidents
