Assistant / Companion

Exclusive client. 85-year-old gentleman with mild early stage dementia / short term memory problems requires companion for mental stimulation, physical activity and housekeeping. Previously being a regional table tennis champion and CEO of multinational company, his interests include:
- Shorter bouts of table tennis (20-30 minutes / twice a day)
- Pool / billiards
- Chess / Uno / Other mental stimulating games and activities
- Gardening / DIY and short walks in the countryside
Our client is articulate and well mannered, has no personal hygiene or mobility problems, but cannot drive and is otherwise in excellent health for his age. In addition to organising and _**joining in**_ with the above, you will be required to accompany him to daily supermarket shops, and remind him to stay hydrated, eat healthily, stay on top of his medication (tablets only) maintain a good standard of housekeeping, occasional cooking, maintain his social diary, drive him around (cars provided) and assist in keeping him generally mentally stimulated to prevent further brain deterioration.
He currently lives with his son who cares and cooks but wishes to return to full time work (daytime). There are two locations - Branksome Park, Bournemouth (5 minutes from Branksome beach) and Wilmslow, Cheshire. It is envisaged that time will be split more or less equally between the two locations. Ideally you will live close to one of these and commute to work - and accommodation will be provided at the second location where required. There may be some occasional international travel.
Applicants must have some experience in dementia care and rehabilitation, be able to physically “keep up” with our client, pass routine CRB, drug and alcohol tests and be able to provide excellent references.
