**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Cleaning Operative**

**Responsible To: Cleaning Supervisors/Senior Cleaning Manager**

**Location**: W1 Complex & London Sites within Region

**JOB PURPOSE**:
To carry out and maintain high standards of cleaning in a professional, competent and safe way in all of the BBC demised areas. As a client facing role cleaning operatives must also provide high levels of customer service.

**Key Accountabilities and responsibilities**:

- Carry out all cleaning tasks in accordance with the work schedule. To include but not limited to;
- Spot mopping
- Replenishment of consumables
- Wiping down surfaces
- Empty/unlock bins
- Sweeping
- Polishing
- Carpet stain removal
- Vacuuming
- Periodic/deep cleaning as required
- Take ownership of Health and Safety for yourself and others at work
- Complete all work in accordance with current legal Health and Safety requirements
- Ensure any appropriate warning signs are always in use
- Observe and comply with site rules and regulations at all times
- Maintain equipment and materials in a clean and safe working order
- Report all machine and building faults to line manager
- Respond courteously to customer and management requests
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by line managers
- To use a time and attendance system to record working hours
- Wear the correct uniform, clothing, footwear and any personal protective equipment (PPE) that you are issued as identified by risk assessment
- Attend and participate in any training that the company provides for you
- Maintain storage and cleanliness standards in any relevant cleaners' rooms and cupboards
- Carry out site cleaning tasks using the approved methodology and procedures in line with the cleaning specification

**PERSON SPECIFICATION (Experience/Qualifications/Skills)**
- Previous experience in a cleaning role is essential or strong knowledge and understanding of the role
- Understanding of COSHH
- BICS qualification - beneficial
- Flexible/Adaptable in approach to work
- Friendly and approachable manner
- Pro-active approach to work
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work on their own with mínimal supervision as well as part of a large team
- Set and maintain very high standards of delivery - attention to detail essential
- Driven to complete tasks above expectations
- Diligent, professional and intuitive
- Ability to work under pressure in a highly demanding environment
- Self-motivated as well as a team player

**Job Overview**

Deliver excellent service standards for the delivery of routine planned and periodic cleaning for a Mitie customer. Ensure the contract service delivery is of a high standard, meeting all SLA agreements whilst adhering to the cleaning schedules.

**Main Duties**
- To undertake successfully all training required to deliver the cleaning role.
- Individuals will be required to work within a team and can work under their own initiative.
- Adhere to all Mitie Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain the designated area to an agreed level of cleanliness in line with the Contract and relevant SLA's, carrying out all daily weekly and periodic tasks as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Ensure that the service is delivered effectively and efficiently to a high standard.
- To ensure all equipment is kept clean, well maintained and is a safe working order.
- To have a full knowledge and understanding of the designated cleaning area, including the agreed work specification and time allocated to facilities.
- To have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals used by Mitie.
- To build positive and productive working relationships with all customers, delivering excellent customer service and seeking ways to continuously improve and exceed expectations.
