**Role and Responsibilities**

We are looking for people who can help us feed our children, and adults with healthy campfire food, whilst using non-violent communication.

8.15am to 3.30pm 2 or 4 days a week. Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri in Worlingham, Beccles. Term time only.

Our Hearth Keepers tend the fire circle at the centre of our community.
- Menu planning essential - vegetarian or vegan menu - with children’s ideas and likes in mind.
- Budgeting skills essential
- Organisational skills essential - organise the food shop and monitor stock - can be a delivery to the woods.
- Work beside Hearth Keeper volunteers to prepare, cook and nurture.
- Fire skills essential - light the fire if unlit on arrival
- Set up the kitchen space each morning and pack down each afternoon with the help of the forest school facilitators.
- They help cook a warm breakfast, lunch and keep the urn full of boiling water for the adult tribe.
- They notice and gather up the child or adult who needs extra nurturing
- a chat, sharing stories, a cup of tea, a listening ear.
- They are a part of all briefings and debriefs and are a valued observer and ‘story teller’ of what they have witnessed during that session.
- They are responsible for the food hygiene and camp kitchen hygiene.
- They are our noticers. Our heart.

THe Hearth Keeper is a very valued member of the team, everyone loves to be fed good, tasty, fresh food.

The hearth is the centre of our camp and as such is a hub for everyone, to gather around, to warm up, dry off and circle around.

**Qualities and skills needed**
- Health and Safety
- understands risk assessments and can follow them.
- Able to dynamically risk assess
- A love of children and understanding that working with children with unmet needs can be both challenging and very rewarding.
- Knows how to cook on a campfire
- Can light and maintain a fire ( or an interest to learn)
- Trustworthy and reliable - the food and nurture is central to our provision.
- Awareness and understanding of the forest school ethos
- Ability to plan menus and budget accordingly
- A passion for supporting people to feel belonging.
- A love of community

QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRED
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From £11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 28 per week
