The Company is embarking on an aggressive growth period, and we are looking to appoint a Maintenance Supervisor to support the growth within the business.

**The Role: -**

The main purpose of the role will be to supervise a team of external contractors, to ensure adherence to the Company’s maintenance policy to achieve world class maintenance practices on site. The key focus within the role will be to plan activities to ensure that required workloads are completed whilst meeting regulatory, statutory, and corporate standards. This will involve developing and auditing statutory maintenance and inspection requirements to meet these standards.

The role is responsible for sourcing and developing relationships with contractors to meet the required standards. You will source, engage, and supervise contractors for current installed plant, and new installations as required. You will act as task owner and permit to work issuer for external contractors working under your control.

The post holder will have responsibility for all site services/utilities including the steam raising plant, compressed air systems, ammonia chillers, firefighting and all other services associated with an Upper Tier COMAH site.

The control and management of the site central engineering stores, ensuring stock levels are accurate, and availability of spare parts are maintained is an integral part of the role. Working closely with the production team, you will work to agree on solutions on plant issue resolution, with identification of contractors and spare parts required prior to maintenance work, agreeing timescales and shutdown timing.

You will Investigate problems to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions as well as liaise across departments to ensure resource availability. Maintaining compliance with the Company’s established operating policies and procedures to ensure any maintenance KPI and stock value targets are met.

This role will report to the Process Engineer.

**The key duties and responsibilities for this role include**:
- Ensure the day to day operations of the plant utilities are conducted safely, effectivity and within regulatory requirements.
- Support the manufacturing plant with fault finding and resolution of plant issues to meet the required plant uptime and throughput rates.
- Ensure the day to day operations of the central engineering stores.
- Ensuring self and contractors always operate in a safe manner, following all company policies and procedures including identification of safety improvements.
- Effectively manage external contractors as the task owner, and issue permit to work as part of the safety management systems on site.
- Continuously monitor and inspect all contractors working under your control on the site, identifying variations from agreed scope and signing off work as complete taking appropriate action as required.
- Using Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement tools to identify, prioritise and propose safety, quality, and production performance improvements.
- Communication of management of change, revising, creating, and updating, maintenance procedures and associated managed documents.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with mandatory and personal development training for the maintenance department.
- Expertise in problem solving maintenance issues with regards to managing plant and utility services.
- Liaise, collaborate and problem solve across multiple departments and disciplines.
- Monitor day to day activities to maximize uptime and availability of Utility systems, investigate energy efficiency opportunities for the site.
- Act as part of the site construction team, working changed hours of work as maintenance or projects dictate.

**Qualifications/Experience/Skills: -**
- ONC in mechanical engineering/maintenance practices (or equivalent)
- A mechanical COMPEX qualification and a knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems would be a distinct advantage.
- Extensive experience in mechanical statutory maintenance and electrical knowledge would be an advantage.
- Previous experience of maintenance fault finding, and diagnostic practices is essential.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills are essential.
- Previous Contractor supervisory experience would be an advantage, as would a good working knowledge, and experience of permit issue and control.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of maintenance in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemical industry or knowledge of chemical production, processes, and resource management.
- Knowledge of and practical skills in continuous improvement/lean tools and problems solving techniques.
