The Barking and Dagenham Speech and Language Therapy team has recently had a Business Case approved, which means we've got funding for new Band 6 posts. This is a really exciting opportunity for us to continue to grow and develop as a team and provide an innovative and effective service to the children/young people and families that we work with.

As a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions with children/young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs, as well as providing advice to parents/carers and delivering training to professionals. In return, you will join a supportive team environment and be provided with robust personal development opportunities.

Contribute to the provision of Speech and Language Therapy services in Barking and Dagenham.

Administer comprehensive formal and informal assessments and make differential diagnoses on the basis of assessment findings.

Develop and deliver evidence-based intervention programmes, adapting and facilitating therapy according to client-centred needs.

Independently organise, plan and prioritise your workload and caseload.

Provide specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents/carers, education staff, multidisciplinary team members and other colleagues.

Attend relevant training courses, meetings and Clinical Excellence Networks (CENs) related to your specialism.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary with a minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum (pro rata).
