**Job Description**:
As an Associate Urban Designer, with a relevant urban design qualification, you will support senior urban design and planning staff in the production of masterplans, urban design guidance, planning strategies, design & access statements and capacity studies relating to strategic planning and urban design commissions for public and private sector clients.
You will have experience working on residential, mixed-use and regeneration masterplanning in a UK context. You will work closely with planning colleagues, so an appreciation of the UK planning system would be an advantage. With a strong appreciation of the links between people, place, the environment and the economy, you will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary on interesting assignments of all sizes, from neighbourhood plans, through large-scale residential-led masterplanning to regional and national strategies.
**Current projects include**:
+ Sub-regional and city-scale strategic masterplanning;
+ Large residential-led urban extensions;
+ Town centre regeneration strategies;
+ Regeneration and community led-masterplanning, and
+ Commercial/industrial site and strategic portfolio planning in the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities and Competencies
This is an important, mid-level position within the team. An Associate Urban Designer is responsible for smaller projects and specified tasks on larger projects and has an element of responsibility for mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
Technical Abilities_
+ Regularly undertake key tasks in a timely manner with mínimal oversight;
+ Plan complex project tasks;
+ Explain complex processes and requirements clearly to the team;
+ Co-ordinate complex project tasks and deliverables, including inputs and outputs by other disciplines;
+ Structure and write reports in a clear, logical and concise manner, and
+ Structure, prepare and deliver progress updates or issue-based presentations.
Commercial Competencies_
+ Contribute towards the development of proposals, resource estimates, schedules and budgets;
+ Ability to work to set programmes and milestones;
+ Understand and monitor project budgets;
+ Understand and identify requirements, and
+ Understand and identify project risks and appropriate mitigation measures.

+ Pro-actively communicate clearly within a project team, engaging with senior and junior colleagues;
+ Provides mentoring for junior colleagues;
+ Identify, attract and manage outstanding design talent through promotion of teamwork, maintaining positive morale and instilling a creative culture within the practice;
+ Communicates clearly, respectfully and confidently with clients, and
+ Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of Quality Assurance Processes and contribute to those processes.

**Requirements**:
+ Competence in AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, Adobe CC and Sketch‐Up, as well as Microsoft Office suite;
+ The ability to work in a consultancy environment, with a attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently and show initiative;
+ The ability to work with senior colleagues as a key member of a multi‐disciplinary team and lead task-level or smaller project teams independently
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

+ A first degree in architecture/landscape architecture or town planning and a postgraduate qualification in urban design
