The ward clerk in the Cardiac and Stroke receiving unit will be expected to act as the focal point of administrative communications for the ward, taking all telephone enquiries and acting as initial point of contact for routine callers to ward. Ensure that all callers and visitors are attended to courteously and promptly. Enter basic patient data onto the computer/ book, especially admission, transfer and discharge details. To prepare documentation admission and discharge packs for use by the nursing team. Maintain patient notes on the unit in an organised and methodical manner, including printing patient front sheets and labels. This is a shift role Monday to Friday working alongside the Ward Administrator. This shift pattern of 8-4 and 11-1900 allows administrative support to the nursing and medical team.

Ensure that all callers and visitors are attended to courteously and promptly.

Enter basic patient data onto the computer/ book, especially admission, transfer and discharge details.

Maintain inpatient notes on the ward in an organised and methodical manner, including printing patient front sheets and labels.

Ensure patient notes are sent for coding/scanning in a timely manner, and all activity is recorded on the computer system.

Where ‘top-up’ services are not provided, requisition stock and non-stock items, record and check same on receipt.

Manage stationery and stores stock levels when Administrator is on leave.

Ensure that there is an adequate supply of appropriate patient information leaflets for the area.

Booking of patient transport.

Photocopying and filing as requested by the Ward Sister/ Matron,
