Permanent Purchase Ledger Supervisor role in Manchester

About the Client

A multi million pound turnover logistics & supply chain business that has been steadily growing is now looking to consolidate their finance function by bringing in a progressive individual into the role of Purchase Ledger Supervisor. An incredibly supportive team located 20 minutes from central Manchester next to the M60 in Wythenshawe, with easy commuter links.

The Purchase Ledger Supervisor role involves:
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage the ongoing centralisation of invoice processing and PO matching
- Prompt stock and overhead invoice processing
- Correct input of invoices to maintain general ledger coding, VAT accuracy and inventory records
- Accurate documentation input and review
- Providing key control checks and enabling segregation of duties. Such as checking completeness of cash payments documentation, seeking further assurance with high risk transactions and providing any applicable training to requestors.
- Regular liaison with purchasing branches
- Distribution of remittance advices
- Timely resolution of supplier queries
- New supplier verification and processing
- Employee expenses
- Recruiting and managing a future team
- training, support, direct, motivate and manage
- Provide invoice processing procedure and systems guidance to outside offices
- Reconcile accounts payable and general ledger with other applicable records
- Monitor aged creditors
- Provide ad hoc reports as required
- Support supplier statement reconciliations, resolving anomalies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Working with internal and external auditors
- Keep procedures updated and record structures maintained
- Implements continuous process improvement
- Ad-hoc tasks as required by Line Manager

The Successful Applicant:
The successful applicant for the role of Purchase Ledger Supervisor will:

- Previous experience in a similarly busy and autonomous purchase ledger role
- Have relevant qualifications for the role such as AAT or studying towards ACCA/CIMA
- Experience in using an accounting system, ideally Sage
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisation and administration skills, including good attention to detail
- Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
- Be proactive on resolving issues/problems
- Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems
