To provide high quality care to all residents as directed by and under the supervision of the registered nurse. To provide leadership and supervision for Carers and Senior Carers.
**Duties and responsibilities**
**Quality and Regulation**
1. To deliver high quality personal care following the care plan and individual resident wishes to ensure the comfort and dignity of each resident.
2. Adhere to the local safeguarding policy, following the Duty of Candour requirements.
3. Monitor the delivery of care when on duty to ensure that it is of high quality and maintains the dignity and well-being of residents.
4. Understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice, and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times.
5. Contribute to the individualised person-centred care planning process of each resident and recording appropriate interactions and observations.
6. Complete all regulatory and statutory training requirements and comply with all company policy and procedures whilst at work.
7. Key worker responsibility for residents ensuring that residents receive one-to-one quality time when on duty.
8. In consultation with the residents/families offer support to maintain the resident’s room, clothing and property.
9. Make beds and change linin daily and dispose of soiled linin in accordance with company policy.
**Clinical**
1. Preform a range of clinical skills appropriate to the individual residents needs. These could include blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respirations, neurological observations and blood glucose monitoring as identified in the care plan ensuring that these are accurately documented reported and acted upon as necessary.
2. To obtain specimens such as urine samples and swabs, completing the appropriate request forms and recording in the care plan.
3. To preform simple wound dressings, following appropriate delegation from the registered nurse and in accordance with the care plan. To have an understanding of the basic dressings used and competent in aseptic techniques and complete appropriate documentation.
4. To undertake basic life support and first aid training and update at least annually.
5. To administer medication, where delegated by the registered nurse in line with the medication policy.
6. To have a depth of knowledge and understanding of Taylor and Taylor policies and strategies and ensure knowledge is kept up to date.
7. To write care plans and undertake risk assessments. These should be legible and accurate, written in accordance with Tylor and Taylor policy and standards.
8. To participate and contribute to the resident’s care plan review.
9. Complete accurate, factual daily entries into the care plan of all interventions and care delivered in a timely manner.
10. Support residents in understanding the aging process and how it affects their health and lifestyle. Support residents to maximise their independence and create an environment which supports their physical and mental well being and ensure that all residents are always treated with dignity.
**Leadership**
1. Supervise the high delivery of care within the care team.
2. Support, mentor, and act as a role model for Carers and Senior Carers.
3. Ensure effective allocation of care staff when on duty, ensuring that the dependency of residents is given due consideration in collaboration with the registered nurse.
4. Participate in the appraisal, supervision, training, and development of care staff.
**General**
1. Review stock levels of nursing supplies and submit replenishment orders to the nominated person
2. Establish professional working relationships with the residents their families and friends to provide a safe and reassuring environment.
3. Work collaboratively within the clinical team to promote a healthy, professional, and friendly atmosphere for all residents and their families and friends.
4. Support new residents and their families and friends to provide a safe and reassuring environment.
5. Maintain communication and working relationships with healthcare professionals in the home.
6. Be professional, courteous and transparent in your communication.
7. Assist and actively encourage the social care and the well-being of residents.
8. Prepare food trays and dining rooms to Taylor and Taylor standards and support them with their meals.
9. Escort residents when required out of the home for appointments etc following completion of a risk assessment by registered nurse.
10. Attend any opportunities for clinical and professional development.
11. Any other reasonable task requested by the clinical lead or Manager which is with in your competence.
