Buyer - Alfreton

**Position: Buyer**

**Location: Alfreton**

**Salary: £31,000 - £35,000**

**Monday-Friday office hours (40 hours per week)**

**Grafton Recruitment** are working with an established, a global leading company who are recruiting for an experienced **Buyer** based in **Alfreton.**

This role is a **hybrid of Procurement, European logistics and Carrier engagement. A key aspect to the role** will be developing **a strong understanding of the European transport network** in order to **make recommendations**for **reliable and cost-effective services** to the Senior Procurement Manager.

As a**Buyer** you need to have an **understanding of logistics**, be **confident in engaging** with **stakeholders at multiple levels**, and **driven to provide the best experience** for our customers and is passionate about delivering value. It is based on the customer's site **and part of the role will be customer-facing.**

**List of responsibilities as a Buyer**:

- **Work closely with operation and planning** teams.
- **Negotiating with existing**suppliers.
- **Developing and implementing strategic re-plans**, and contingency **planning**.
- **Implementing the most reliable and cost-effective freight solutions** for the client's contract for their European transport activity.
- **Developing strategic Logistic partnerships**, **negotiation, analysis, benchmark** activities and ongoing carrier research
- **Ensuring cost, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.**:

- **Maintaining good working relationships**with existing carriers.
- Managing and prioritising a challenging workload.
- **Delivering savings and growing market** share using relevant methodologies.
- Raising purchase orders using SAP.
- **Representing company** to the carrier base and needs to establish close working relationships with them, whilst collaborating closely with other teams within Strategic Planning, Operations, Data, Freight Bill & Audit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- European Transport, Logistics and or Planning knowledge.
- Cost awareness.
- Background in logistics/supply chain to a similar level.
- Excellent IT skills including Excel.
- Attention to detail.
