169504 Orthotist (Ajm)

This post is advertised as full time however we are happy to consider part time and job share positions in line with the service requirements.

Part-time consideration - salary will be pro-rata.

The Orthotic department is located within the SMART Centre at Astley Ainslie Hospital in Edinburgh. We provide Orthotic care to the population of Lothian and for the Scottish National Paediatric Spinal Deformity Service.

We currently have a team of 12.6 in-house orthotists. We also have 4 in-house technicians supported by a technical team lead as well as 2 Modern Apprentice Orthotics and Prosthetics Technicians. We use external companies for some of our manufacture services. We aim to deliver high quality patient centered care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

We require an individual with good interpersonal and communication skills who can demonstrate that they can work well independently and as part of a team. Must be registered with HCPC.
- Assessing referred patients’ orthotic needs and, either alone or in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary clinic team, prescribe and provide orthotic devices required to meet these needs.
- Supervise the manufacture and procurement of orthotic devices prescribed for referred patients.
- Review patients’ orthotic requirements to ensure the effectiveness and safety of devices provided.
