This post is based in the microbiology department at St Mary’s Hospital. This is a full time senior Clinical fellow post (SpR grade/post CCT). The post is for 6 months from March 2023
The fellowship is suitable for a senior registrar/post CCT level doctor wishing to gain further experience in microbiology before becoming a consultant. The role will include specific liaison with the paediatric infectious diseases team, and so is ideally suited to a doctor with experience in this area.

As part of our continued response to Covid19 we are still conducting the majority of our interviews virtually.
The post holder will work alongside an ST3+ microbiology registrar and 2 other microbiology consultants, to help provide a continuous service provision. The doctors currently provide: OPAT reviews and clinics, bacteraemia reviews, laboratory results reporting and bench rounds, IPC meetings and liaison, ITU and other specialist in reach rounds. This post holder will specifically link in with the antimicrobial stewardship and ward rounds with the paediatric infectious diseases team, who are co-located on the St Mary’s site, including PICU and neonatal units..Depending on experience there are other opportunities available within the department. These include teaching, Quality Improvement and Audit, presentations at the clinical academic seminars and participating in case reports. There are a wide range of academic opportunities available in the department, and the post holder will be encouraged and supported to join in with those. There is an adult infectious diseases ward on site at St Mary’s Hospital, and the Northwest London Pathology diagnostic laboratories are based at the Charing Cross hospital
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop relevant generic skills including leadership, teaching, communication and managing workload effectively. They will ensure excellent care of patients and ensure collaborative working within the MDT.
