Freightserve recruitment are looking for an experienced Transport Manager for a niche sector Heathrow based Freight company based in Slough area.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day planning, management and profitability of the UK and European transport operations.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

**Transport Operations**
- Full accountability for the transport fleet and road crew
- Planning and coordinating transport routes and daily schedules for UK and Europe for the fleet, ensuring that the transportation is cost efficient and profitable
- Ensuring effective management in arranging customer collections, packing services and deliveries
- Working with customers and office staff, planning routes and scheduling delivery times, co-ordinating the drivers, agency drivers and vehicles for work
- Management and use of sub contractors - control and affect an effective work flow, control costs, ensure efficient planning and maximise productivity
- Full management of company vehicle fleet (trucks and cars), including budgeting and costing for additions to the fleet, ensuring fleet is fully roadworthy, serviced and maintained and regular checks are performed
- Manage the company vehicle insurance policy, ensuring the correct level of cover at the most cost effective price. Handling any insurance claims and dealing with all insurance issues.
- Stay abreast of all UK and EU road legislations - manage and implement appropriate changes and updates
- Evaluate and ensure company has relevant memberships to road/transport associations
- Manage company property - for example: road crew telecommunications, uniforms, tools etc
- Monitor suppliers and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits
- Debriefing drivers and porters where required
- Understanding the Tom Tom monitoring system and producing reports as required
- Having a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision of how the company carries out its work
- Oversee the compliance of all legal requirements that affect the company’s vehicles
- Adhoc client and site visits to agree and ensure service levels
- Discussing and resolving client/supplier problems and complaints, act as point of escalation
- Participation in project managing art fairs and exhibitions, ensuring deadlines and profitability targets are met

**Financial**
- Produce a profit and loss analysis on every trip
- Manage company expenditure on transportation and advocate for new services, products etc to improve the company’s productivity and profitability and reduce company expenses and bills
- Implement practices to maximise revenue income and ensure financial goals are met
- Generate monthly transport reports - detailing revenue, profit margins, operational issues, justifications, explanations and recommendations

**Human Resources**
- Responsible for employment and disciplinary procedures for road crew
- Identify the mentoring, coaching and development needs of teams - devise plans to help others to improve their knowledge and skills
- Resolving conflicts and negotiating with others - handling complaints, settling disputes and resolving grievances
- Team building - encourage and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members
- Managing holidays/absence of the team, ensuring cover and support is always available across the company (plans to cover busy periods, absence etc)
- Ensuring an even allocation/delegation of jobs across the team
- Monitoring the team’s performance and ensuring it is of a high standard, identifying gaps in knowledge and resolving them
- Motivating the team ensuring good level of team and company morale

**Key Attributes**
- A sound understanding of industry standards for handling, packing transporting and installing high end furniture, artwork, and antiques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
