We are currently seeking to expand our manufacturing team and are looking for an experienced and creative machinist, competent in using industrial machines and work to a fast pace with excellent accuracy.

The Sewing Machinist will be involved in manufacturing baby wraps, ring slings and other jacquard woven fabric products. During busy times, they may also be asked to assist with quality control tasks, including checking, fixing and packaging, and in any other duties to ensure a smooth manufacturing process resulting in exceptionally high quality products.

Salary range is from £19,600 - £22,600

Main Duties:
*

- Sewing a range of baby wearing products including baby wraps and baby ring slings
- Meet the minimum standards required regarding quality and pace within the probation period
- Using a variety of different industrial sewing machines
- Using machinery required for cutting and pressing fabric
- Ensuring patterns are matched correctly and product specifications followed accurately
- Working to timescales to achieve production targets, individually, and as part of the team
- Cleaning and maintaining assigned sewing machine regularly, ensuring that your own working area is kept tidy and organised
- Assisting in the maintenance of a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures. This will specifically include:

- ensuring safety equipment is used properly and in designated areas;
- ensuring that any machinery is only operated in accordance with the risk assessment instructions;
- ensuring that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained within the Machinists space
- Ensuring all aspects of health and safety protocol are followed, ensuring safe and efficient operation of machinery
- Regularly assist the Quality Control Department in checking, bagging, and packaging products (training will be provided)
- The post holder will be required to perform duties appropriate to the post, other than those given in this job description, to ensure the smooth running of the Operations Department. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of the responsibilities entailed.

- Experience as a Sewing Machinist essential
- Able to use industrial sewing machines and pressing equipment
- Meet production targets
- Adhere to Health and Safety procedures
- Able to understand and read patterns and product specifications
- A good understanding of written and spoken English
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Basic levels of numeracy and literacy
- Good verbal communication
- A flexible attitude and ability to multitask
- Able to demonstrate initiative with a proactive approach to solving
- To work accurately and efficiently at a fast pace
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- This job requires some lifting of boxes and other heavy objects. Training in manual handling will be provided.
