**HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician**

**Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex**

**Salary: £35 - £43k DOE**

Our client are looking to recruit a **HGV/ Commercial Vehicle Technician** for the established Mercedes
- Benz Commercial vehicle dealer based in Eastbourne. They offer 24-hour servicing, roadside assistance, along with servicing and maintenance, offeringa range of servicing and repair options to suit every business.

**The Role**:
To undertake all duties of a commercial vehicle technician by carrying out inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installation of components in accordance with the experience, training given and to the standards and quality of Mercedes-Benz.

**Responsibilities**:

- Understand and diagnose faulty components and recommend a course of action.
- Carry out inspections, maintenance, repairs, and installation of components in an efficient manner and as per instructions given by Service Reception.
- Ensure that standard times and quality of work is to the manufacturers’ standards.
- Ensure that all work carried out and time taken is well documented on the job card to ensure accurate billing to the customer.
- Ensure that additional work is reported to the responsible Service Advisor and authority is obtained before work is commenced.
- Ensure that additional work, which cannot be carried out, is communicated to the responsible Service Advisor for future booking.
- Ensure that the correct components are requested from the Parts Department and in sufficient time for the job to be carried out.
- Road test vehicles when required and ensure work has been fully completed and will pass quality assurance checks.
- Ensure that vehicles are returned to customers in a clean condition and there is no body damage.
- Support Service Advisors as necessary with technical expertise in explaining to the customer the work carried out on their vehicle.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and in proper working order. Report Faulty equipment and remove it from the workshop.
- Maintain a well organised service 24-hour vehicle, for ease and use for the other workshop staff if required.
- Ensure at all times that within your area of responsibility, company procedures and standards are maintained and that all statutory requirements including fire and health and safety are adhered to.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Essential**: Qualified City and Guilds or Level 3 NVQ equivalent in commercial vehicles or HGV.
- **Desirable**: Previous Mercedes-Benz experience

**Working Hours**:

- Week 1: Monday to Friday 07:00am to 03:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break) and Saturday 07:00am to 01:00pm.
- Week 2: Monday to Friday 03:30pm to 12:00am (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
