**About the Role**:
Reporting into the Manager, Strategy, Portfolio & Exploration, the Principal Compliance, Portfolio and Exploration - Europe & Africa will lead all compliance-related advice. You will have oversight and perform risk assessments across BHP’s Portfolio, Strategy and Development and Metals Exploration functions. Specifically in relation to acquisitions & divestments, venture investments, exploration, new high risk country entry and minority and non-operated interests for the Europe and Africa region.

The Principal Compliance, Portfolio & Exploration leads the following Compliance-related (Including anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism financing, export controls, sanctions, or state/commercial secrets laws) accountabilities for the Europe & Africa region.

In this role you will:

- Actively engage with stakeholders gaining an understanding of stakeholder activities to proactively identify at risk scenarios and provide advice on preventing and mitigating these risks
- Perform compliance due diligence and integration of the Ethics & Compliance program and frameworks for acquisitions & divestments, venture investments, exploration and new high risk country entry
- Proactively identify emerging compliance-related risk scenarios based on external developments and business activities including routinely monitoring geo-political issues for countries and opportunities
- Endorse and approve compliance transactions including giving anything of value, suppliers, donations and sponsorships
- Support external engagement initiatives aimed at reducing risk of operating in high risk countries
- Engage externally with minority, non-operated interests and leads secondees to these interests to influence them to operate adequate and effective compliance programs

**About You**:

- Experience developing, embedding and executing anti-corruption and trade sanctions compliance frameworks and improvements
- Advanced knowledge of Australian, UK and US anti-corruption and trade sanctions laws, regulator guidance and enforcement actions
- Experience with risk identification, assessment, prevention and mitigation
- Experience designing and implementing Compliance programs in high risk environments especially anti-corruption and trade sanctions
- Significant experience working in global corporations, professional services firms and/or law firms
- Appropriate professional accreditation/qualifications
- Experience engaging with external stakeholders and influencing other organisations for the purposes of maintaining adequate compliance programs
- Exposure and travelling experience to high corruption risk countries
