**Role Outline**

We are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Assistant Cashier to join our busy accounts team in our Leeds City Centre office.

The position aims to ensure that an efficient cashiers’ service to fee earners and support staff in the firm.

**Key Tasks**
- Assisting with the processing of financial transactions for the law firm.
- Ensuring that office, client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily.
- Checking and posting of bills.
- Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions.
- Daily banking.
- Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner and maintaining accurate records.
- Maintenance of the firm’s petty cash system and processing of expenses.
- Taking both internal and external calls, including taking card payment.
- Providing assistance to and cover for other members of the Accounts and Cashiers team.
- Ensuring that transactions and processes comply with the Solicitor’s Accounts Rules, HMRC rules and other relevant legislation and guidance.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving office and accounts procedures.
- Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.

**Key Skills & Knowledge - Essential**
- Numerate and literate. GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) essential.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately in accordance with the requirements of the team.
- Ability to deal with enquiries in a customer-friendly and effective manner.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Flexible approach to work and ‘can do’ attitude
- Satisfactory absence record or sound justification for high absenteeism.

**Experience**
- Full training is provided and no financial/legal experience is needed however the successful applicant will have a genuine interest in working in accounts in a legal environment
