Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, the Payroll Assistant’s role will be to support our busy department, helping to ensure an accurate and on time monthly payroll.

**The Role**:

- Process new starters and leavers.
- Ensure staff are on the correct pay and action change of roles when required.
- Enter correct tax code information based on documentation provided.
- Check and validate information provided such as bank details and National Insurance numbers.
- Review if new starters are eligible for the interim payment offered by the business and responsible for the payment of this each week.
- Input AEO’s and pay the deducted amounts each month to the appropriate third parties.
- Update payroll spreadsheets and the HR/Payroll system accurately when necessary.
- Provide support and assist with employee pay queries.
- Equip employees with knowledge and advice on National Insurance, Income Tax and Statutory payments if requested.
- Input statutory sick pay.
- Work daily with confidential and sensitive information.
- Perform any other administrative tasks as directed by the Head of Payroll and Payroll Team Leader.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- Experience working in payroll and knowledge of basic employment law legislation is preferred but not essential.
- Experience working within business administration is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with the Civica HR/Payroll system would be beneficial however, not essential as training will be provided.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures.
- Organised with evidenced ability to manage own time.
- Willingness to learn a variety of skills.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
