Waddesdon Manor is a historic house open to the public near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild from 1874 and set in a Grade 1 listed garden, it is
home to the Rothschild Collection and was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957. Today
it is managed by a Rothschild charitable trust, The Rothschild Foundation, and welcomes in
the region of 350,000 visitors annually. It is home to the Rothschild Collection, a world-class
collection of fine and decorative arts assembled by 3 generations of the family, and runs a
varied public events, schools, and exhibitions program, including a popular Christmas Season,
and Education and Learning programme and a family and institutional Archive.

The RF has two trading companies, RWL and WEL which between them run catering and
retail on-site, a private events business and a hotel, the Five Arrows, in Waddesdon village,
and a wine company, WWL. All profits from commercial activity are returned to the RF for
the support of the Manor.

The Rothschild Foundation has a broad philanthropic remit and gives grants and supports
charitable and educational activities in sectors including arts and heritage, education, the
environment, and social inclusion. It is based at the Windmill Hill Archive complex. The Manor
and Windmill Hill are set within the privately owned Waddesdon Estate LLP. Its operations
include residential lettings, farming, energy, forestry, commercial operations, and capital
projects.

The Education and Learning Team are responsible for delivering a wide-ranging programme
of educational programmes and activities focused on the resources at Waddesdon, from
primary to secondary school pupils.

Outline of Role

This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating learning workshops for
working relationships with schools and cultural organisations with the wider radius
surrounding Waddesdon, working closely with the Rothschild Foundation’s Grants team.

**Responsibilities**:
Schools
- Work with the Head of Learning to plan, develop and deliver inclusive educational

school visits, workshops, and special events for all key stages, including SEND.
- To help to develop and deliver our Home Education programme.
- To assist with the planning and delivering of our Christmas schools engagement
- activities.- Day-to-day onsite management of volunteers to enable delivery of sessions to visiting

schools. This will include assisting the Head of Learning with recruitment and training
of volunteers.
- To assist with the administration of the department, including bookings and

feedback.

Community
- To help maintain close relationships with the National Trust, Buckinghamshire Culture

and other cultural organsations.
- To work closely with the Rothschild Foundation Grants teams, and to collaborate on

specific projects and initiatives that have received Foundation funding.
- To help expand the offer for local community groups, for instance Scouts and Guides.
- To assist with other projects and tasks that may not expressly be in the job

description but are nonetheless necessary in the day to day working of the
department.

Skills and Experience
- Experience of working with young people, in either a formal or informal environment.
- Proven ability to facilitate inspiring and engaging sessions with schools across all key
- stages.- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
- Prove ability to prioritise, and the ability to assist with strategic planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Track record of managing relationships with external stakeholders.
- Experience of working with volunteers.

Desirable
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and wider learning agendas.
- An interest and knowledge in history and fine and decorative arts.
- Knowledge of the heritage sector.
- An understanding of cultural diversity and access issues.

Terms & Conditions

Contract type:
Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday. To include some weekends,
evening and bank holidays in order to deliver the programme, for which TOIL will be granted.
Subject to the completion of an Enhanced DBS Check.

**Salary**: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum

Holiday: From start date, 33 days (including public holiday)
After three full years of service: 36 days (including public holidays)
After five full years of service: 38 days (including public holidays)
After ten full years of services: 40 days (including public holidays)
