As the Specialist Support Officer (Post 16), you will work within the Virtual School for Children in Care, Previously In Care and Children with a Social Worker as part of the Post 16 Team.

You will offer support to care leavers with their next steps in education, employment and training.

As the Specialist Support Officer (Post 16), you will:

- Offer small group support to care leavers living in semi-independent accommodation
- Promote and signpost education, employment and training (EET) opportunities to professionals and care leavers.
- Support the outcomes of the Post 16 Team Action Plan, namely to improve the quality of Post 16 PEPs, reduce the number of young people not in education, employment and training (NEET), providing opportunities for re-engagement with EET and to improve the communication with Post 16 partners.
- Have a presence at the Life Beyond Care team drop ins and engage with care leavers in a less formal setting to respond to needs as they arise.
- Have a presence at the Young Adult Forum and work with the Participation Team.
- Have oversight and input to Norfolk Right Direction care leaver app.
- Have strong links with other partners including the Participation Team, Welfare Rights Officer, Life Beyond Care Teams, Clarion Futures, Adult Learning, and Volunteer It Yourself
- Support with setting up of work experience placements.
- Support the planning and delivery Project Mackenzie (a NEET re-engagement programme) and provide follow-on support to participants in achieving their EET goals.
- Set up Barefoot online learning course for care leavers.
- Monitor Personal Education Plans (PEPs)
- Chair NEET casework meetings.
