We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join Behjati Lab in our Cellular Genetics Programme for a 3 year contract.

You will be working on an exciting project funded by the Wellcome Trust to study cancer and normal tissue genomics and evolution. The Behjati group uses cutting-edge genomics and single-cell technologies to understand normal human development and how normal development relates to disease, especially cancer. We integrate whole-genome sequencing, bulk and single cell transcriptomics with mathematical modelling of data to improve our understanding of the cancer cell and the cellular origins of disease. As a postdoctoral fellow, you will use and develop genomics approaches and bioinformatics tools to study normal human development, genetic disorders, and the transformation to cancer.

**You will be responsible for**:
Your position will be in the Behjati lab, where you will study the transition of normal cells to a disease state. You will work closely with other groups on the project, including other computational members of Cellular Genetics. You will take the scientific lead on optimising the existing computational tools, but also establishing novel bioinformatics and genomics tools to analyse normal and cancer genomes. Your project will involve close collaboration with a staff scientist and computational PhD student to analyse and interpret the data.

**About you**:
**Essential**:

- A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or related scientific discipline
- Understanding and knowledge of statistics
- Experience in a research environment
- Experience with use of R or Python and Unix/Linux
- Experience with NGS data analysis
- Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and organize own workload
- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize tasks or projects
- Demonstrate good networking, influencing and relationship building skills
- Ability to communicate ideas and results effectively
- Demonstrates inclusivity and respect for all
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

**Desirable**:

- Previous projects involving or knowledge of cancer and normal tissue genomics or early human developmental biology

**Salary per annum: £35,707-£44,712 **(dependent upon skills and experience)
