Assist with the provision of healthcare services within the Fernhurst Day Unit - both in the Day Unit and designated Outpatient Department.

To actively take part in meeting the needs of the patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), working within the Trust’s policies and procedures and the philosophy of the department.

To work within The Fernhurst Centre, both in their designated Outpatients Department and their Day Unit.

To be an effective member of a multidisciplinary team under the direction and supervision of an RN and to be continually aware of the need for confidentiality.

To assist patients to carry out personal care

To assist patient to mobilise where appropriate

Testing specimens and recording the results

Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on admission to the unit, under the instruction from the RN. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the RN or Nurse in Charge

Under the supervision of the RN, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety

To restock departmental areas as required reporting any shortages to the NIC/ward manager

To adhere to the policy for the control of infection

To participate in the promotion of positive learning environment and to act as a role model at all times

To be aware of and contribute to Clinical Governance arrangements/issues for area of work

Attend mandatory training updates as required

Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process
