Job Title: Forester

Reporting To: Director / Forest Manager

**Salary**: £ Negotiable on experience + Employer Pension Contribution

Hours: 39.5 hours per week

Location: Based in Omagh with regular travel across Northern Ireland

To provide the opportunity for a someone who has recently completed a course of study to take their first vital steps into forestry employment and develop their woodland management skills, knowledge, and experience to take their career forward. The role involves a mixture of office-based and outdoor work and at times you will need to work in adverse weather and possibly in remote places. The role involves outreach activities and communication with landowners and land managers to promote the benefits of woodland management and offer options for woodland creation.

Person Specification - Competencies, skills, and experience:

- A HNC, HND, BSc or MSc in forestry or similar forestry qualification or related geographic or land use associated degree or qualification.
- Knowledge of the social, environmental, and economic issues related to woodland creation, restoration, and management.
- Knowledge of national policies as they affect the countryside, land management and farming.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders (e.g., contractors, landowners).
- Ability to work effectively both within a team environment and as a self-motivated lone worker.
- Ability to assess and evaluate data and technical criteria to reach informed decisions.
- Effective skills in the collation and recording of accurate data and in information management.
- A willingness to learn and commitment to continuing professional development.
- Strict compliance with health and safety, risk management and lone worker policies and procedures.
- Full driving licence.
- A basic knowledge of mapping
