**Job Title** Finance Assistant
**Salary** £23,500
**Reports to** Finance Manager
**Duration** Permanent
**Place of work** Units 1G/H Guildford Road Industrial Estate, Hayle, TR27 4QZ
**Working hours** 37 hours per week, 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday. 9am to 4.30pm Fridays. There is also the option of an 8.30am start.

**Main responsibilities**
- Responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions of the Charity.
- Payment of invoices, staff expenses, individual grants, ad hoc payments etc, in a timely manner.
- Processing expenditure on Xero, ensuring all details are correct and the relevant adequate documentation has been recorded.
- Enter and maintain supplier payment details onto the banking system.
- Load payments onto the online banking system to be authorised by a second user and vice versa.
- Reconcile bank transactions in Xero and entering staff expenses claim forms, invoices and receipts, individual grants etc to Xero and file appropriately, working with the Finance Manager.
- Allocate income & expenditure appropriately. Liaising with the Finance Manager when, funding streams change.
- Maintain and develop excellent payment systems to cater for the needs of the Charity, particularly as we continue to grow and develop, systems will need to grow and develop accordingly.
- Monitoring shared mailboxes, ensuring all queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Investigate queries as they arise from external suppliers.
- Help staff with any queries they may have and assist staff to understand the needs of the finance department.
- Working to tight deadlines and managing own workload effectively.
- Ad hoc jobs as given by the Finance Manager or requests from others.
**Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
**Essential**
- Experience in a finance role.
- Knowledge of Excel.
- Working knowledge and understanding of GDPR.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with high standards of computer literacy including key MS Office packages.
- Good technical, written and numeracy skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work on own initiative and without constant direct supervision, with a proactive approach.
- Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure in a busy environment.
**Desirable**
- AAT Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience of Xero.
- Experience of working in the charitable sector.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively and confidently at all levels internal and externally.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion, and to demonstrate integrity at all times.
