Clinical 1. Receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their healthcare needs 2. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral and discharge as appropriate and deliver key elements of NSFs, providing public health, health protection and promotion programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities 3. Patients with problems needing referral to secondary care should be discussed with the registered GP before making such a referral 4.
These patients will have booked appointments at ten-minute intervals. There is a requirement to see extra or emergency patients 5. Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, etc. Perform investigatory procedures requested by the GPs 6.
Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations 7. Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, ad within scope of practice 8. Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary Administration 1. Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team 2.
Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes using agreed read codes 3. Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports and audit 4. Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms 5. Attend and participate in practice meetings as required 6.
To collect data and participate in regular practice audits and research projects 7. To contribute to the preparation of any practice development plan 8. In the course of seeking treatments, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately 9.
In the performance of the duties outlined in this job description, the postholder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. Ensure that all statutory regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, etc) are implemented and adhered to 11. To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the practice 12. To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up to date in line with the requirements of the practice 13.
Training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practice requirements. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the practice. It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments 14. To support the infection control lead in the practice and ensure all staff are aware of current procedures 15.
