**About the DT Technician Role**:
Your main tasks will include assisting in the maintenance and safety of the design and technology rooms, including collecting and tidying away used equipment; assisting in the maintenance and organisation of stock and following the maintenance schedule fortools and machines and carrying out basic repairs where possible.

Currently the department has one main workshop, a smaller Sixth Form workshop space, a workshop prep room, computer room, teaching room, food room and têxtiles room. This role is predominately focussed in the workshop area, however you will work with theSenior DT technician and also support with CAD/CAM requests.

The department is currently expanding and within the next 12 months, a second full size workshop will be created and equipped with machinery in a similar format to the existing workshop. You will maintain the machinery and support lessons that are beingdelivered in both workshop areas.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Support the smooth running of the Design and Technology Department
- Support students and teaching staff with practical tasks
- Prepare materials, equipment and resources of lessons
- Administrative tasks e.g. filing, photocopying and laminating
- To check all machinery and equipment in the workshop and organise any repairs and maintenance
- Ensuring suitable storage of stock, re-ordering as required including checking deliveries
- Ensure that equipment and working areas are kept in a clean and tidy order, specifically after lessons and when students use areas in non-timetabled lessons
- Provide technical support, including individual or small group pupil support where appropriate
- To have a particular regard for health and safety matters in accordance with school policy and statutory requirements
- Check and empty extraction systems regularly
- Support the department in setting up for Open Evenings, Options Evenings and Exhibitions
- Support catch-up session and extra-curricular clubs during lunch or after school

**About You**:

- Qualifications and Experience:_
- Experience of working in a workshop or similar environment and have manufacturing skills including wood, metal and plastics manufacturing processes.
- Able to perform routine maintenance on a range of machines including lathes, mills, band saws and circular saws.
- Relevant City and Guilds / Health and Safety certificates are desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
- Experience of working in an educational setting is desirable.
- Comfortable using machinery and equipment in a modern technology suite, to include laser cutter and 3D software/printer along with traditional workshop machinery, however full training will be given on these machines.
