**About the Role**

**Salary**: £44,100 - £66,100 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

**Working Pattern**: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

This is a senior role within our Solar and Battery (S&B) Commercial team, able to influence future investment decisions at the highest level. Responsible for the commercial modelling of a portfolio of projects, this role combines core analysis and modelling with stakeholder engagement, working with key individuals across Trading, Development, Engineering, Construction, Procurement and Asset Management.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Leading the creation and development of financial investment appraisal models for Solar and Battery projects, supporting projects through the SSE governance and approvals process. Working with Corporate Finance to ensure models are fit for purpose and financial calculations are accurately incorporated.
- Developing a detailed understanding of solar and battery revenues, in particular the underlying market assumptions which drive these in order to be able to challenge internal Energy Economics capture price and wholesale market spread assumptions.
- Collaborating across multiple functions within the S&B business and wider SSE to understand and interpret project details such as technical capability and yield, revenue market opportunities, capex cost estimates and spend profiles, in order to form a robust view of project returns. Preparing business case analysis and sensitivities to demonstrate potential value upside and confidently presenting outputs to senior leadership.
- Regularly updating the S&B Commercial team on UK and Ireland energy market developments, including current and new revenue streams (e.g. Ancillary Services, Pathfinders, Capacity Market) and their mechanics. Proactively conducting analysis to assess and quantify the potential risks and opportunities for the S&B business case and influence future strategic direction.
- People management of more junior commercial modellers, assigning projects, prioritising workloads and providing coaching to support them in their development.

**What do I need?**

**To be considered for this role, we would love you to have**:

- Previous energy industry experience, with particular knowledge of wholesale, balancing and ancillary service markets; Capacity Mechanism and Contracts for Difference (CfD)
- Experience of battery trading and dispatch strategies
- Excellent analytical, written and numerical skills with demonstrable experience working with complex data sets and modelling
- Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of financial principals such as NPV, IRR and key financial statements
- Confidence using own initiative to investigate value-adding opportunities and conducting ad-hoc analysis
- Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex topics clearly and succinctly
