QA Tester

We’re looking for a QA Tester to join the IT team here at Oak Furnitureland. It’s a fixed term maternity cover contract for 12 months and is based in Swindon. We can offer hybrid working with 1 day a week in the office and 4 days working from home.

The role will involve testing the OFL website and our various business systems, as well as any third party integrations. You will develop and have an understanding of our business processes, and it’s operations which is vital to ensure error free software is delivered to our colleagues.

As a QA Tester you will drive quality at all stages of the project & Software Development Life Cycle, by verifying business requirement and subsequent testing requirements.

You will have an input into project plans in relation to QA estimation of test duration. Design & document test cases which maybe be part of our QA Automation process.

You will build a great working relationship with our in-house development team, the wider IT team, business stakeholders & 3rd parties, discussing ideas and improvement to testing, ensuring a clear line of communication and responsibility.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Using testing processes to accurately test and verify changes to ensure a quick turn-around on changes critical to the business.
Working closely with the development teams & Business Analysts to ensure clear understanding of requirements or defects to help provide rapid changes.
Pro-active defect management and analysis, escalating any critical issues rapidly to ensure effective issue rectification and prompt completion of test activities, thorough documentation, coupled with proactive communication to our colleagues and IT.
Regular, clear & concise reporting to Senior Programme Delivery Manager on test progress and issues.
Actively manage the QA helpdesk.
Liaising with the business to arrange Business Test (UAT) in a timely manner, ensuring the relevant parties have sufficient notice and can the available documentation to support the request, engaging with them to ensure a successful conclusion.
Regularly reviewing tickets in Business Test, liaising with the stakeholders to ensure agreed timelines are met and to discuss any lesson learnt where deadlines have been missed or business operations has been missed.
Communicate major releases to the business, advising key stakeholders of the tickets, which will impact their department.

**Skills and Experience**:
Previous experience in a similar software testing role
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships
Ability to confidently talk about and describe in detail business processes and procedures within internal systems, website as well as any third party interfaces.
Must be a proactive self-starter with the ability to use your own initiative
PHP development/testing experience an advantage
