Nursery Room Leader

**Job Purpose**:To contribute to the success of Blue Sky Day Nursery and Out of School Club through effective management of the team and resources. Ensuring The Blue Sky Promise “We promise to care for your child as we would our own” is upheld by the whole team and that this promise is the ethos by which Blue Sky operates.

To develop and manage a team of people who create a warm, welcoming, caring environment in which the children can explore and safely develop their understanding of the world.

**Job Scope**
- Undertake activities within the room needed to care for the children in line with the activities of a Nursery Nurse - Playworker Job Description (see attached).

**Ensure the Blue Sky team are supported, well trained and high performing**
- Take accountability for your own performance and responsibility for your teams.
- Ensure everyone makes a fair and equal contribution to the success of the care room including team members from other rooms as appropriate.
- Ensure you and your team comply with the Blue Sky hand books, (Employment, Operation, Health, safety and Environmental).
- Identify training and performance needs so these can be sourced and your team can perform to the best of their abilities.
- Identify performance issues as they arise so that they can be dealt with quickly before they become unmanageable.
- Promote a positive atmosphere within your room and across the nursery, ensuring anyone’s issues are brought to the attention of the Nursery Manager so they can be addressed if possible.
- Praise and recognise your team for outstanding contributions.
- Undertake 1-2-1’s termly with your team.
- Ensure your 1-2-1 with the Nursery Manager occurs termly.
- Ensure your teams folders and paperwork is complete (this includes Learning Journeys, Absence forms/ return to work reviews, training course reviews etc)
- Ensure your teams training hours are logged onto the database.

**Help customers remain satisfied by the services Blue Sky deliver and whenever possible feel delighted**
- Provide information to the Nursery Manager for the monthly newsletter.
- Perform a quarterly SEF on your room in order that Blue Sky’s SEF can be updated by the Nursery Manager.
- Ensure the parents needs are met as far as is possible.
- Make sure Blue Sky is clean, tidy and well presented.
- Ensure the equipment, toys and materials are appropriate and available.
- Minimise disruption to the children’s routines whilst remaining compliant and minimising overstaff.
- Show potential customers around Blue Sky, sharing all the best bits about the nursery so that customers want to use our services as required.
- Ensure parents evenings are organised.
- Attend the family fun day as required.

**Other**
- Help make sure the advertising strategy generated by the Business manager is implemented, including giving the team chance to update face book regularly.

**Salary**: £10.08-£12.80 per hour
