South Warwickshire Foundation NHS Trust is looking to appoint two full time Consultant Histopathologists.

The Cellular Pathology Department is part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Network between South Warwickshire Trust, George Elliot Hospital and University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire. The appointee will be based at Warwick Hospital and the employer would be South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.

The appointee will join a team of 7 Histopathologists, each of whom has a special interest varying from monospecialisation (skin) to a more generalised repertoire. A special interest in Gynaecological, Head & Neck, Gastrointestinal Pathology are required. Additional PA’s may be available following job planning exercise, and flexible working patterns can be considered. Within the above areas of interest, part time working would be considered ensuring service delivery requirements are achieved.

The department is working with West Midlands Cancer Alliance to move towards digital pathology reporting. Scanners are in place at Warwick site.

This appointee will be required to deliver general and specialised reporting, participate in frozen section reporting and attend multi-disciplinary team (MDT). All of the MDTs are currently delivered via computer link (Microsoft Teams).

The appointee will be required to interact with the clinicians and allied health professionals to provide pathological support and leadership required for the delivery of excellent services. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is currently no post mortem service at SWFT.

The appointment currently is at 1WTE, however this is likely to change with ongoing service development discussions that may require up to 2 more WTE in addition to the current post.
