**About us**

Ochil Tower School is an independent charity offering education, care and therapy services for children and young people with complex additional support needs on a residential and day basis. Our pupils come from a range of local authorities across Scotland. We have an ambitious development plan which includes an extension to our 52 week provision for all our children and young people and opening our 5th house on site, which follows on from the establishment of a Life Skills Centre for our senior pupils (18-21 years).

**The Role**

The purpose of the role is to support the school’s Chef in delivering a high quality food and menu service during term time to our Children and Young People.

**Main Duties**
- To take responsibility for the preparation, presentation and serving of all meals to an exceptional standard.
- To prepare, cook and appropriately present meals for Children and Young People and staff taking into account dietary and allergens needs.
- To ensure routine day to day as well as specialised cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors and storage areas, as directed by the Chef.
- To ensure waste is controlled with regard to preparation and cooking.
- To maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety.
- To manage and control all food, to include; receiving and checking stock, checking equipment and materials are used correctly, closely monitoring portion control.
- To ensure that routine data is collected as required and that all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service and storage are carried out properly.
- To immediately report all accidents, near misses, damage or breakages to the Chef.
- To actively assist in ensuring a five star food hygiene rating.
- To undertake any other tasks appropriate with the duties and responsibilities of the post
- To attend any relevant training sessions to ensure that you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively
- To comply with any reasonable request from the Chef to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

**Qualifications**
- **Essential**
- Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety
- **Desirable**
- NQ Catering and Hospitality.
- NQ Professional Cookery (SCQF level 5)
- NQ Professional Cookery (SCQF level 6)

**Experience and Skills**
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with young people with learning disabilities, social, emotional or behavioural issues.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to be resilient
- Empathic and non-judgemental (treat everyone fairly and as an individual)
- To be organised, efficient and have the ability to multitask and prioritise in what is a busy and fast moving environment
