**Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Dartford - £65,000**
**Purpose of the Job**
Reporting to the Operations Directors, this role is to be accountable for leading the Design Team and the Departments Workload, as well as managing and monitoring any external resource, whilst working closely with the Estimating and Operational teams. Theywill assist with evaluation and manage technical risk within the tender process, particularly with D&B Bids. Part of the role will be working with the estimating team to establish Value Engineering and supporting with the technical aspect of bids, as required.Enhance the current Design Department processes to create more efficiency, to maintain current Clientele base whilst creating further Client diversification and profitable workstreams, by introducing design solutions that focus on sustainability and Zero Carboninitiatives.
**Key Responsibilities:**:

- Working towards Managing a small team of Design Engineers and technicians / CAD engineers, being responsible for the quality and timeliness of work produced
- Interacts with the design team to co-ordinate the project and liaises with the Operational Team to ensure that all relevant considerations are incorporated
- Attend Site Scoping Surveys alone/with Operational Team and or the Estimating Team and where required assist with the production of Survey/Scope reports
- Prepares technical specifications and financial proposals for new work
- Assist with the Estimating Team with Tenders from a Design perspective
- Prepares and takes responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detailed design within agreed budgets
- Manages ‘Risk’ within the design
- Production of detailed drawings, uploading to client’s portals with the required design information, plant schedules and registers
- Maintains thedesign register/tracker
- Plan internal resource and review external sub-contract designers as appropriate and manages these additional resources and ensure alignment with Process and Procedures.
- Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and that the objectives of the client are achieved
- Develop further resilience within the Design Department.
- Always developing, supporting and enhancing their Brand.
- Key Stakeholder engagement.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Preferably a member of CIBSE or equivalent, degree qualified, although significant relevant experience would be acceptable.
- Commercial, Residential and retail experience preferred
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience of building services design
- Fully proficient with all relevant design software
- Broad commercial knowledge and experience, preferably including fit-out, shell and core and infrastructure
- Mechanically biased, but experience of working on both mechanical and electrical projects would be beneficial
- Experience of working on at least one major prestigious project a distinct advantage.
