**TITLE**: Laboratory Assistant & Goods Inward Assistant

**LOCATION**: Gilcar Way, Castleford WF10 5QS

Unisurge is the UKs leading manufacturer of Custom Surgical Procedure Trays (CPT). Our activities include cleanroom assembly of kits, sterilisation of product using Ethylene Oxide gas, and transport and distribution of our goods.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
**Working alongside our microbiologist in our busy lab.**
- Assisting in organising petri dish for environmental analysis of our clean room (settle plates, environmental plates, finger dabs).
- Prepare External Process Control Devices (EPCDs) for loads sterilised at Castleford.
- Inoculate Biological Indicators (BIs), monitor & records results.
- Dispose of contaminated waste through correct waste stream.
- Perform routine QC inspection of goods.
- Sterile load release - interpreting output of the ETO chamber to ensure parameters are met.
- Assisting in Stock control and consumable orders.
- Assisting in external and internal audits.
- Helping to prepare and perform all routine laboratory testing including environmental analysis, media acceptance, ETO residue analysis, bioburden testing.
- Prepping and performing validation analysis for any Unisurge sterilisation or laboratory projects.
- Occasional travel to the main site in Newmarket will be required.
- Annual leave or other leave cover for our microbiologist.
- Assist in development and validation work alongside microbiologist to ascertain required standards for 3rd part testing (Environmental analysis).

**Education and Experience**:
**Essential**
- Microbiology degree (or other related degrees) with understanding of microbiological principles and techniques.
- Being interested in Regulatory Affair and quality control work.

**Desirable but not essential as training will be given.**
- Knowledge of sterilisation techniques.
- Experience of gas chromatography.
- A basic knowledge of quality control and QMS.
- A basic knowledge of GMDP.
- Experience in a lab environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 & ISO 11135.
- Experience working under GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) standards.

This role could be ideal for a newly qualified microbiologist, this can be a part time position or full time position.
