**Duration**: 6-12 month contract OR perm

**Reports To**: Project Safety Engineering Manager

**Clearance**: MUST BE SC CLEARED / CLEARANCE STILL VALID

As a Senior Consultant in System Safety, you will be working with a team of engineers under the guidance of a Systems Safety Principal Consultant to develop future complex systems on a major, high profile engineering programme. You will deliver the projectdeliverables without direct supervision and may be required to lead others to ensure successful delivery of the client’s needs. This will require you to liaise with a variety of internal and external project stakeholders that will include sub system engineeringteams, suppliers and the Ministry of Defence to ensure compliance to safety standards and particularly to shape the critical early stages of design.

Essential
- Technical Degree/Masters with relevant experience or equivalent industrial experience
- Delivery of safety case arguments compliant to Def Stan 00-56
- Demonstrable Experience of Functional Safety to key standards such IEC61508
- Safety Lifecycles and Safety Management System development
- Elicitation, decomposition and substantiation of Safety Requirements
- Safety Analytical methods such as FTA, ETA, FMECA
- Competent in Isograph FT+
- Hazard identification and management
- Analysis of software intensive complex systems
- Desirable _
- Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership
- Competent in the use of DOORS
- Knowledge of ISO15288 and the system development lifecycle from requirement definition to customer acceptance
- Knowledge of System engineering methods, languages and tools:

- Frameworks such as MODAF/UAF/TOGAF
- Methods such as OOSEM
- Languages such as SysML
- Competent in Sparx Enterprise Architect modelling tool
- Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Desirable Market experience_

**Core Responsibilities and Duties**

As a Senior Consultant in System Safety your core duties will typically be:

- Working with other System Safety Engineers and clients personnel you will provide technical advice and guidance
- Providing Safety SME support to major system and design reviews and working group meetings.
- The decomposition of major system level Functional Safety and Intrinsic Safety requirements (e.g. policies, general technical requirements, etc.) to the major systems engineers and suppliers.
- The approval of (Product Safety aspects of) Technical Specifications, and System Design Descriptions.
- Working with stakeholders to develop and publish "Design for Safety" strategies and plans that will dictate how later phases of the programme will achieve compliance.
- Working with the Systems Engineers and major systems suppliers to analyse the systems hazards and develop the necessary design solutions to mitigate them.
- Reviewing, developing and approving supplier submitted product safety artefacts including Hazard Logs, Safety Case arguments and product design details.
- Review and acceptance of supplier Product Safety qualification evidence.
- Presentation and delivery of the systems equipment Product Safety arguments and evidence to the customer.
- The implementation of lessons learnt from previous Systems Safety Cases.
- Generation of the System Safety Case artefacts in support of the Systems Safety Case. Other
- Sole UK Citizenship
- Will be required to hold SC Clearance
- Hybrid Working - Remote (predominant), Filton and Client locations as required to support project needs.To support Hybrid working you are expected maintain a sufficient/stable broadband connection.
- Travel - UK as required to support Client needs with potential for international travel.
