We’re looking for a data platforms lead to join us to oversee the architecture and running the of the data storage layer across Co-op Data. Our data engineering team combines Co-op values with sound data management principles to build trust among our users and create a culture in which everyone takes responsibility for good data practice - and you’ll play a vital part in this.
In this role, you’ll drive the implementation of durable, performant, and user-friendly data storage infrastructure, as well as owning the improvement and optimisation of our processes, so that we can get real value from our data. We’ll look to you to establish enterprise-scale data integration design standards and procedures across the data development life cycle, ensuring that our data teams adhere to these and helping to create an environment of data enablement that sits at the heart of our strategy. **What you’ll do**
- establish enterprise-scale data integration design standards and procedures across the data development life cycle and ensure that data teams adhere to these
- set standards for programming tools and techniques and select appropriate development methods
- take technical responsibility for all stages and iterations in a data software development project, providing method-specific technical advice and guidance to project partners
- predict and advise on future technology changes that present opportunities for a product or programme to drive value from data
- review requirements, specifications, and define test conditions, identifying issues and risks associated with work while being able to analyse and report test activities and results
- build problem-solving capabilities into the Data Engineering function so that we remain agile and adaptable to change requirements
**This role would suit people who have**
- experience of nurturing, developing, and leading multi-disciplinary teams within a data engineering or data-orientated software engineering function
- experience in delivering success in a large matrix organisation, including a capacity to influence and collaborate across the business
- strong full stack experience and a deep knowledge of modern data platform, Azure, Data Factory, Databricks, DevOps, database tech, and storage tech
- strong problem-structuring capabilities, with the ability to tackle complicated, ambiguous datasets and transform them into valuable data-assets
- excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues and ideas to non-technical audiences
- a client-focused approach to providing data solutions to the business
- a high level of resilience, with the ability to deliver at significant pace within a dynamic and challenging environment
