- Job description- We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious individual for the role of Specialist Team Member in Owston Ferry Field Operations Team within East Midlands. On a daily basis you will be responsible for organising a large team delivering routine maintenance on our rivers and flood defence assets. Ensuring all work is carried out efficiently and in line with Health and Safety procedures as well as Environment Agency policy. You will be expected to produce risk assessments, method statements and other Health and Safety documentation for the field team to follow on site. You will be involved in the delivery of our small earthworks and construction projects throughout the East Midlands (North) area. As an STM you will be expected to train as an Advanced Winch Designer and Appointed Person producing the required winching and lifting plans. You must be a positive role model who will take the lead to actively coach others to help towards building a stronger field team. During times of leave or sickness you will be expected to stand in as the Field Team Leader where you will be involved in the management of the Field Operations Team.
- The team- The Field Operations Team is responsible for delivering a programme of maintenance to Rivers and Flood Defence assets. Whilst being prepared to react to incidents across East Midlands area and provide mutual aid in other areas. We also provide support and advice to other parts of the business for example Fisheries, Hydrometry and Environment Management.
- Experience/skills required- We are seeking someone with a vast amount of field experience with excellent leadership and communication skills. You will have the proven ability and be able to demonstrate the following:

- Lead on site, ensure staff work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Lead teams responding to flood and environmental incidents.
- Provide coaching and encouragement on site.
- Communicate at a variety of levels, both internally & externally.
- Excellent customer service skills both written and verbal.
- Self-motivation, with the ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
- Deliver often conflicting demanding work, often within short deadlines.
- Working knowledge and experience of Health Safety & Wellbeing, Construction Design Management, and environmental legislation.
- Have basic IT skills with the ability to produce word/excel documents and have a good understanding when working with tablets.
- Contact and additional information- The is a permanent, full time (37 hours per week) role based at Owston Ferry Depot, you will be required to travel to the depot in your own vehicle, a pool vehicle will be provided for journeys to/from sites therefore, a full UK driving licence is required.
